  2. When did he finally convince her to go back to brunette? Her hair was still pretty short when it was brunette again, so my assumption was always late 1932.

  3. She was still blonde as late as Sept/Oct 1932. I have always assumed it was sometime in 1933. The Alistair Cooke home movie "All At Sea" was filmedin the summer of '33 and she was already brunette, so it was sometime before then.

    1. I think the main reason she changed her hair color was because Charlie wanted her to be brunette for "Modern Times"

  5. Also, I agree with people who wrote that she was not as attractive as a blonde. It did indeed make her features sharp.

  6. Dang, she changed it some 2 years before filming! I can just see him saying "Change it, we'll be filming soon"...then almost 2 years passes before cameras roll. She looks better at a brunette anyway.

  7. I believe filming began the next year (1934), so it was more like a year or so before, plus I think Paulette was glad she made the change. She never went back to being a blonde.
