"The Sacrifice"

This home movie features Charlie as the King of the South Sea Islands who is smitten with Popo the Dancing Girl. It is from the Mountbatten archives (and was featured on the "extras" disc of the Warner/MK2 version of The Circus) & appears to have been shot at Pickfair.

  1. Any idea as to who the other participants in the film are? The "guard" looks a little like the fighter from previous pics below with Douglas Fairbanks. Just curious!

    1. That's a good question. I think the woman sitting next to Charlie (the "Queen") might be either Edwina Mountbatten or her sister Mary. This is just a guess. Mary married a man named Alec Cunningham-Reid. I don't know if he is the other man in the film but that name is mentioned at the beginning ("A Chaplin Cunningham-Reid Super Production). I don't think the man is Louis Mountbatten. He sort of looks like Harry D'Arrast.
